TEST PATTERN

Hi friends
This is the test pattern for L & T INFOTECH

There are three rounds,

1.Written test
2.Group discussions
3.Technical/H.R

Written test:
It has have 3 sections,
Section A: Aptitude - R.S agarwal
Section B: Reasoning -R.S ararwal
Section C: English - Any book for antonyms,synonyms,correction of sentences. I followed WREN & MARTIN

Total 90 questions , 90 munites ---SECTIONAL CUTOFF IS THERE
written is easy,section a and section b can be easily solved,
for section c if we have practice we can do it with in 15-20 munites

Group Discussion:

group of 10 members are taken and among them 2 or 3 members were selected
they mainly concentrate on the vocabulary skills and the way u deliver ur idea...

Final round is Technical\H.r :

So Coooooooooooooooooool

each student was asked for 15-20 munites.
technical questions are simple and basics.

Never hesitate to say even if it is wrong.

ABOUT APTITUDE

1) Aptitude Test
(Sectional Cutoffs this time and they strictly followed it this time around unlike last year) Guys don't hit me on this, since i ve' forgotten many questions but will try my best to give you some.

This time around the aptitude test was difficult. Not many questions were repeated but it was still manageable
1) Quanti Section (Tough) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is ur bible)
-> Few question from time and work
-> Few questions from matrices/determinants
-> Few question from speed and distance (tough ones)
-> Few (infact 5) from permutations/combinations (again some tough ones here)
-> Few trignometry questions
-> Few ratio proportion and percentages
-> Few Age based questions
-> Few from allegations and mixture
-> Few from series
-> Few from probability

thats all i remember. Guys a friendly suggestion try to cover only these chapter thoroughly from R.S agarwal and you should clear most of the quanti section.

2) Data Interpretation/Nonverbal/Logical Reasoning (Manageable) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is ur bible)
Again i do not remember much questions here but still lets see...
-> Few (infact 7) from Non-Verbal part i.e based on 4 iamges u decide the next one in sequence... (few were tough)
-> Few table based interpretation questions.
-> Few puzzles based (Refer R.S Agarwal verbal/nonverbal/logical reasoning book for these chapters)
-> Few Pie charts based question
-> Few logical vein diag question (any apti has this question)
-> Coding - Decoding
-> Data Sufficiency

Rest I don't remember much.. but as i said it was manageble section...

3) Verbal/English/Comprehension ability (Very Tough to me atleast) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is ur bible)
-> A paragrapgh was given and we were asked 5 questions from it and again there were 4 options
1) If the question is relevant and could be answered from passage
2) If the question can be answered as a deduction from any of the other situation(S) from the passage
3) If the question can be or cannot be the result of any situation(s) from the passage given
4) If the question asked is irrelevant and cannot be answered.

So what do you get from these type of question :-) ? Its a complete waste of time to attempt these questions at start. Attempt it lat. I found these types somewhat similar to cat pattern. ne ways lev it..

-> Few analogy based question (the ones that i remember are) Defunct:life :: ? (Refer R.S Agarwal its given there) and from that same R.S agarwal there were 3 questions more...
-> Two Comprehensions (1 Tough ad 1 Easy)
-> Few questions on odd man out type.. infact i remember one question
Axe,Arrow,Knife,hammer (Ans- Arrow (easy one))

ABOUT GD:

Some tips:
** Speak Relevant points.
** Dont panic. Neither repeat points
** Dont be dominating ( i had a friend being rejected due to this)
** Listen to others
** Sit staright (sound motherly :-))
** Most importantly while speaking address to all your mates in the group.
** Avoid using fillers and bad grammer.
** Be an active listener and a passive speaker.

EXAMPLE PAPER

Quantitative
* Profit & Loss
* Number Systems
* Linear Equations
* Permutations & Combinations
* Time speed distance
* Time & Work
* Mixtures & Allegations
* pipes and cisterns

All are really simple & basic problems. Concentrate more on fundamentals

1) A red light glows every 10sec, yellow every 15sec and red every 18sec.find the number of times all three glow together from 8:00AM To 9:00AM (including both times)?
2) If age of a person is x and his mothers age is 34. then after how many years will the mothers age be twice of the son?
3) Three problem on Arithmetic progression and geometric progression.

Sanguine
Arranging sentences in order (3 or 4 questions)
Finding errors in a sentence (6 Qs)
Fill in the blanks (5 questions)
Analogy (4 questions)
Reading passage (5 questions): easy to score atleast 4 marks out of 5 by reading questions and coming to passage to search answer also less time consuming.
Reasoning: It was the simplest part I found in the whole paper. There were questions related to
1) A puzzle of 8 friends 4 girls and 4 boys who have to be placed on 4 bikes. And different conditions were given.
2) Another puzzle where five band member were present i.e. ram, Mohan, shyam, ravi, suresh and five instruments like guitar, violin, tabla,sitar,paino. Few conditions like a) ram can only sitar. B) mohan can play all the instruments. C) shyam can only play piano or guitar. D) ravi can only play piano. Four questions related to it were given.
3) Four question on figure reasoning.like sets of figures(SHAPES ) ARE GIVEN .EACH SET HAVING THREE FIGURES LAST SHAPE OF THIRD SET Will be missing and you HAVE TO IDENTIFY it BY CHECKING OTHER COMBINATIONS

EXAMPLE PAPER

Average:

question asked:

1.The average age of a family 5yrs ago was 40.A baby is born in the family,and the average becomes 57.Wats the age of the baby?

2.The average of first 8 no. is 56 the avg of last four no. is 42.find the average of the remaining 2?

Problems on ages

1. sum similar to that given in R.S Agarwal: pg 182..sum no.4

Problems on Profit and Loss:

3 sums were on that.I dont remember the sums.It was on horses.A man buys two horses for Rs 140each.One he sells at a loss of 25% .At wat price must he sell the other so that he gains 25% overall?

I am sorry other 2 i dont remember.

Percentage:

A simple sum...You can do it without the prep.

Ratio Proportion:

This was also simple...but i dont remeber it exactly.If u do R.S Agarwal well..this wont be a problem.

Problems on train

Very simple...just had to calculate the length of the train.problem was like:A train passing a railway platform at 100km/hr..lenghth of the platform is given...find the length of the train?This is given aplenty in R.S Agarwal.

Time and Distance:

Similar prob given in pg 386,R.S Agarwal:sum no.12.Police and thief problem.

A.P:

3 sums on it....

1. a series like this....11,21,31,41.....201,Find the sum of this series.

2.Three nos are there,whose product is 126.Sum 50.find the three nos.(hint: dont solve the problem,see the options.it saves time)

3.a series in decreasing order...dont remember it...had to find the sum again.

Boats and Streams:

Avery simple problem.....formula based.Similar problem in R.S Agarwal:pg 425,sum no.1.

Numbers:

There were 2-3 problems whose ans can be optained directly from the options..No special prep needed for this.

Time and Work:

This is the most difficult chapter in any aptitude tests...i had left it..though i did the initial sums given at the begining of the chapter in R.S Agarwal.Question were based on these sums only.

Probability:

Problem similar to pg no. 622,R.S Agarwal....sum no.5

Pie Chart:

A set of 4-5 questions were asked on a single pie chart...simple but with a bit lengthy calculation.Do this last.Mine was like...Mr.Agarwal has an income of 70000/- savings 30000...a pie chart given depicting diff. sectors of expenditure....and then there were questions.

Sets:

Very very simple....Draw a set and then do....simple subtraction thats all....50 learn mathematics 60 learn english...calculate how many learn both...

Simple Interest:

Very simple....Do R.S Agarwal.

Total questions on Quants was 30...The main idea to crack this is to do the easy ones first.If there are 5-6 sums in the begining which cannot be solved then do the remaining.Do not waste time.Remember there is sectional Cutt-offs.

LOGICAL REASONING:

This section was full of syllogism...Pepare well.I did not study from any book,but as it is mentioned in the papers it would be helpful if you do the prep from R.S Agarwal's Verbal & Non Verbal Resoning.People taking tutions for CAT..can prepare this from their respective study materials.

IMPORTANT:

Please do this section at the last.Devote 40 mins for this section.And most importantly:before starting of the section check whether the easy questions are at last or at the begining....if the easy questions are at the last start solving from the last..otherwise vice-versa.

Very easy...anyone can crack.Have confidence...

there were words jumbled up...u needed to sort the letters to find a new words.

Sets from which u have to find out certain parameters...doctors, artisans,writers.

(NO SPECIAL PREP IS NEEDED...BUT YES SOME TIME IS NEEDED FOR LOGICALLY SOLVING IT..PRESENCE PF MIND IS THE MUST).

ENGLISH:

THE MOST EASY SECTION...THE LAST QUESTION CONTAINED A COMPREHENSION ON OCEANS AND WAVES.QUESTIONS' ANSWERS WERE DIRECTLY MENTIONED IN THE PASSAGE.

SORTING SENTENCES SUCH THAT A COHERENT SENTENCES ARE FORMED.VERY SIMPLE.

correct the gramatical errors...which part of the sentence has gramatical errors..etc.etc......PLEASE DON'T WASTE TIME PREPARING THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE THOROUGH WITH ENGLISH.TRY AND COMPLETE THIS SECTION IN 20 MINS.

GROUP DISCUSSION:

L&T PERSONNELS WILL ASK the group TO CHOOSE A TOPIC.CHOOSE AN EASY TOPIC AND SPEAK.IF U DONOT SPEAK YOU WILL BE OUT.PLEASE DO SPEAK OUT.RELEVANT OR IRRELEVANT.THEY WILL ALSO ASK TO SUMMARIZE OPINIONS INDIVIDUALLY.BE BOLD...BE SMART,AND YOU WILL CRACK THIS TOO.

INTERVIEW:

Mostly HR. testing your confidence.Please refer to the other question papers for the questions asked in he interview also.

After completing the G.D a form will be given out to fill-up.Points mentioned there must be the same points u will have to tell wen the same quetions are asked on it.

BE CONFIDENT.YOU WILL CRACK THIS TOO..

I WILL SHARE WITH YOU QUESTIONS ASKED TO ME....please prepare the ans. yourself.because opinons may vary.

1.Introduce yourself.
